 ::SYNOPSIS
"Deala No Deala, the biggest game show in South Indian Television history and one of the most successful shows ever in television history globally.

Deala No Deala in Thamizh is based on the international television game show, Deal or No Deal that has been telecast in over 73 countries and has given away over Rs 500 crores in cumulative prize money, making this Endemol owned format show one of the most successful game shows in Television history.

The game show offers contestants an opportunity to win upto Rs 50 Lakhs in cash. Contestants for the game show have been chosen from the responses to the Call for Entry activity that ran on the Channel a couple of weeks ago. The game involves 26 suitcases, each of which contains an unknown amount between Re 1 and Rs 50 Lakhs. To begin with the contestant chooses any one of the 26 suitcases, not knowing the value inside that case. And from there on, the contestant’s objective is to walk away from the game with the maximum possible amount of money through a process of opening the other 25 boxes and deciding to deal or not to deal with a mysterious banker who offers to buy the contestant’s case at varying amounts of money at different stages of the game.

A unique mix of world class sets, a simple format that is easy to understand, edge of the seat entertainment and an engaging host come together to make Deala No Deala a fabulous television viewing experience. And to make it even more entertaining, there is, for the first time as part of this show, a viewer contest where viewers can win total prize money of Rs 1 Lakh per episode.

Deala No Deala – The game explained
The central game of Deala No Deala involves a contestant, a mysterious banker and a host/presenter who conducts the game. The game revolves around the opening of a set of numbered briefcases, each of which contains a different amount of money. The money values of all of the cases are known at the start of the game, but the specific location of any prize is unknown. There are a total of 26 cases involved, with the money value inside them varying between Re 1 and Rs 50 Lakhs.

The contestant chooses a case to begin the game. The case's value is not revealed until the conclusion of the game. The contestant then begins choosing cases to be removed from play. The amount inside each choice is immediately revealed; by process of elimination, the amount revealed cannot be inside the player's chosen case. Throughout the game, after a predetermined number of cases have been opened, the banker offers the contestant an amount of money to quit the game, the offer based roughly on the amounts remaining in play. The player then answers the most important question, choosing:

  • 'Deal', accepting the offer presented and ending the game,
  • or
  • 'No Deal', rejecting the offer and continuing the game.

This process of removing cases and receiving offers continues, until either the player accepts an offer to 'deal', or all offers have been rejected and the values of all unselected cases are revealed. The player wins the value of the deal taken, or if no deal is taken, the contents of the player's case.

Should a player end the game by taking a deal, a what remains to be seen is how much the player could have won by remaining in the game. Depending on subsequent choices and offers, it is determined whether or not the contestant made a 'good deal', i.e. won more than if the game were allowed to continue.
